The
convergence of a small group of believers for worship was the
harbinger of the St.Luke’s CSI Church at Karali. Jesus Christ
intervened miraculously on intercessory prayers by a Missionary,
healing a gravely ill individual from among them. It energized
them to look to the Lord.
The Church at Karali, adjacent to Muttathara, is on the
Kazhakuttom – Kovalam NH 47 by-pass across Ananthapuri Hospital.
Dedicated on 16th March 2005 by the Rt. Rev. Thomas Samuel,
Bishop, CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese, the Church was built during
the tenure of Rev. Shajan A. Idiculla, Vicar, Christ Church.
Designed by Mr. Reuben Daniel Koshy, its construction was
supervised by Mr. Jacob Thomas, both from Christ Church. The
congregations of St.Luke’s Church and Christ Church shared the
cost, Rs.18.00 lacs, in the ratio 17: 83.
Divine Worship is held on Sundays. Holy Eucharist is celebrated
on fourth Sundays. An elected Committee supervises the affairs
of the Church. Sunday School, Choir, Youth Movement, Women’s
Fellowship and Almaya Fellowship act as catalysts for the
spiritual growth of the congregation.
2009-10 was the Platinum Jubilee Year of the Church. The
congregation celebrated the Jubilee wholeheartedly with
imaginative programmes. The Platinum Jubilee Hall dedicated
recently to commemorate the Jubilee was a singular achievement.
The congregation has 35 families with 106 subscribing members.
Mr. Philip John serves at present as Catechist under Rev. Raju
Jacob, Vicar, Christ Church. |
